Head of the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Klagenfurt am Wörthersee Clinic.
Plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery performed at the highest level is the symbiosis of sophisticated surgery, creative possibilities and lasting benefits for patients.
Plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery strives to restore function and form as well as the beauty of the human miracle. Aesthetics, proportion and function go hand in hand. This always requires an intensive examination of the patient’s ideas and the associated personal attention from the attending physician.
Biography
Born in Vienna. After graduating from high school and studying medicine, I remained loyal to the Medical University of Vienna and was appointed university assistant at the Institute of Anatomy in 1995.
In 1997 I moved to the Clinical Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Department of Surgery of the Medical University of Vienna, where I obtained the Austrian and European specialist diploma “Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery” (FEBOPRAS) in 2003.
During my six years of specialist training, my path also led me to various research stays in Europe and the USA. One of these was at John Hopkins University in Baltimore/USA for one year. To improve and round off my knowledge in the field of hand surgery, I was drawn to the Clinic for Hand Surgery in Bad Neustadt/Saale in Germany for the first time in 2004. After working as a senior physician at the University Hospital in Vienna for two years, I moved back to the Clinic for Hand Surgery in Bad Neustadt/Saale in 2005 and worked there as a senior physician for two years.
In 2006, I completed my habilitation at the Medical University of Vienna in the field of restoring facial movements after facial paralysis and obtained my teaching license for plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
From June 2007 to October 2009, I worked as a senior physician and deputy head of department at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Wilhelminenspital of the City of Vienna. During these two years, I was able to consolidate my experience in female breast surgery, reconstructive surgery on the face and neck and aesthetic surgery.
From October 2009 to June 2010, I took over responsibility for the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Bad Neustadt/Saale within the Rhön-Klinikum Group as the youngest surgical department head in the German-speaking world at the time.
Despite this extremely attractive new field of activity abroad, I returned to Austria in June 2010 and was appointed Head of the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Klagenfurt am Wörthersee Clinic.
